Injuries continue to dog Liverpool. Along with the good news that Mohamed Salah is training with the squad, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has received some bad news. According to Paul Joyce, Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on 25 February. The England full-back's injury problems have worsened, meaning Alexander-Arnold will again be out for several weeks.

Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has also been ruled out of the final with a hamstring problem. The midfielder made his comeback against Chelsea on 31 January after recovering from a thigh injury that sidelined him for more than a month.

The good news for Klopp is Salah's return to training on Tuesday. It remains to be seen whether the Egyptian star will be able to make his comeback by at least playing a few minutes on Saturday against Brentford or if the return will be against Luton on Wednesday 21 February, in both cases in the Premiership.

Liverpool are top of the Premiership, two points clear of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. But the Citizens have a game in hand against Brentford on 20 February and, if they win it, they will go top. In the FA Cup quarter-finals, the Reds will face Leicester on 10 March. They still do not know who will be their opponents in the last 16 of the Europa League.

The problem for Klopp

With Salah expected to make his return against Brentford on Saturday, this will create a new problem for manager Jurgen Klopp as he has found the perfect attacking trident in Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota. Nunez has 4 goals, 3 assists, while Jota has 5 goals, 2 assists and Diaz has 4 goals, 2 assists. Who will be sacrificed to make room for Salah?
