Luis Diaz's special motivation for Champions League game against Rangers

After two weeks of waiting, the Champions League returns on Tuesday. Two Colombians will fight for three decisive points: Luis Diaz with Liverpool and Alfredo Morelos with Rangers, will arrive sharp for this third matchday.  The 'Reds', with the Colombian in the starting line-up, will be looking for their second victory in the Champions League, after the one achieved the previous day against Ajax.

They want to put behind them, once and for all, the bitter debut against Napoli, who by the way are top of Group A with 6 points. Liverpool are aiming for top spot and will have to win the game. The need is greater for Alfredo Morelos' Scottish side, who are still without a point. They will go to Anfield motivated after winning their league, although they will not have an easy task against what on paper is the strongest team in the region.

It is also a crucial game for Alfredo Morelos' Scottish side Rangers, on paper the Cinderella team in the section, who will be hoping to keep their hopes alive. In Group A, Ajax of the Netherlands (3 points) need to avoid defeat at home to Italy's Napoli (6 points). Liverpool, who occupy an unexpected ninth place in the Premier League with a record of two wins, four draws and one defeat, are coming off a 3-3 draw at Brighton at the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp's side are coming off a 3-3 draw with Brighton in the Premier League, where Diaz assisted one of Firmino's goals. Their last win came against Ajax in the Champions League. They have had an intermittent start to the season, with two games postponed because of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral and the international break.  Liverpool have 10 points from seven Premiership games (two wins, four draws and one defeat), and are still not off the mark. In the Champions League they opened with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Napoli, but managed to bounce back, albeit with some suffering, against Ajax. They need to start to pick themselves up and not lose any more ground in their group, thinking about the round of 16.

Diaz will face compatriot Alfredo Morelos

In the Scottish League, Rangers are second behind Celtic, with just two points separating them. They are coming off the back of a 4-0 win, scored by Colombian Alfredo Morelos, and are on the back of two wins in a row. That motivation seems to be enough for the Glasgow side, at least from what coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst said at the press conference before the game. The 'Buffalo' Morelos, who has been an alternative, fights a tough battle with Croatian Antonio Colak for the starting spot at Rangers. Both are coming off goalscoring spells, and it will be up to Van Bronckhorst to decide who to start. In the 0-3 defeat to Napoli, the coach put the Colombian alongside Ryan Kent.
