Darwin Nunez had started the season in a great way, having a good scoring streak, he was also the player who best understood with Mohamed Salah and they made a couple of goals with assists between them, which won him a lot of games on Merseyside. After a few great weeks where Nunez showed a great level, this went backwards.
The Uruguayan has stopped scoring goals and although he has provided a couple of assists, the striker is required to score goals, as that is his goal. So Jürgen Klopp is still working to ensure that the striker can continue to improve, as January will be a difficult month for the Reds. So Nunez already knows where he needs to improve to be the striker Liverpool need.
Since his arrival on Merseyside, Nunez has not entirely convinced the fans and it is largely due to the fact that he is not a consistent player, as he tends to miss quite a few clear chances on goal, so of all the players with +20 great chances created in the Premier League since last season, Darwin Nunez has the worst conversion rate with 21.3%.
The Uruguayan's job now will be to take as many chances as possible to turn this situation around. So the target is clear at Anfield, and Núñez will have to work hard to improve in such a short space of time as Liverpool have games against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday 7 January and Fulham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday 10 January, before resuming action on Sunday 21 January against Bournemouth, so Núñez will have a tough January from which he could emerge as a hero.
January is the month for Darwin Nunez to shine and win the confidence of everyone, as Mohamed Salah will be with his national team for the whole month at the Africa Cup of Nations. So Nunez will have a lot of responsibility for the Reds attack and if he keeps improving, scoring goals, this will make him the best striker in the world.
