The Egyptian opened the scoring in the Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth with a pinpoint effort in the 30th minute, before sealing a 2-0 win for his side with a trademark curler in the second half.

Salah thus reached the mark of 40 penalties converted on his 48th attempt since joining the Reds in 2017, a success rate of just over 83 per cent.

Only two players in LFC history have scored more penalties in normal time than Salah, with Steven Gerrard topping the list with 47.

The legendary former midfielder had an 82 per cent success rate, committing 10 fouls out of the 57 he committed during his 17 years at the Anfield club.

The next player with the most penalty goals is Jan Molby , who missed 42 of the 45 he scored for the Reds, giving the great Dane a 93% conversion rate.

Salah has scored seven goals in the current season, moving the number 11 from fifth to third on the all-time list.

He has overtaken Phil Neal , who was successful with 38 of his 51 spot-kicks for Liverpool, and Billy Liddell, who scored 34 from 45.

The rest of the top 10 is made up of Tommy Smith (22), Robbie Fowler (20) , James Milner (19) , John Aldridge(17) and in tenth place Terry McDermott and Gordon Hodgson with 16 each.

Milner (90 percent) and Aldridge (94 percent) boast two of the highest hit rates in Reds history, missing just twice and once, respectively.

While Liverpool took fewer penalties by comparison, Danny Murphy (eight) and Mark Walters (six) were consistently faultless from 12 yards.
