The weeks go by and Mohamed Salah's renewal with Liverpool has still not arrived. The player's contract expires in June and with no news yet, everything seems to indicate that the Red team would not be interested in signing him for another season, which is why the former player from the city of the Beatles, Dejan Lovren, thinks that his former teammate has one foot out.

Dejan Lovren, runner-up in the World Cup with Croatia in 2018 and current player of Greek club PAOK, was interviewed about the situation of one of his best friends, with whom he shared a dressing room before leaving Liverpool in 2020 to play for teams such as Zenit and Lyon.

"He is closer to leaving than staying, because, regarding the renewal, the club's leadership does not respect him enough , they do not respect him enough," said Dejan Lovren, in a chat with Ismael Mahmoud.

Liverpool are still not yet clear on the future of their squad . The option of renewing the team would not be so far-fetched , but they would have to get rid of players like Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold , who also end their contracts in mid-2025.

Dejan Lovren knows very well how things are run within Liverpool and due to the affection he has for Mohamed Salah, he thinks it would be best for the team to take advantage of giving him a contract extension.

“I want Mo Salah to stay at Liverpool , he wants to stay. I wish things will change for him, because I wish him the best, but that’s how I see things. “Honestly, I don’t know the exact figures, but whatever Salah asks for, I think he deserves it . Don’t look at his age, some will say that in June he will be 33 , but look at Cristiano Ronaldo, he is 40 and still playing, Salah continues to score goals, he is in excellent physical and mental condition. He is seven or eight years younger (than Cristiano), so what is the problem? But the current reality is that he is closer to leaving than staying. More out than in,” he concluded.
