Luis Díaz scored his first goal for Liverpool FC in 2025 in the Premier League matchday 25 where the leader hosts Wolverhampton. The Colombian, despite the harsh criticism he has received in the last week, was chosen as a starter by Arne Slot and responded to the confidence by scoring the first goal of the partial 1-0 victory.

The goal came in the 15th minute when he led the attack down the left flank and looked for Mohamed Salah who was coming through the centre of the area. The ball was a little too strong, so he didn't control it well, but this surprised the defence, who couldn't reject the ball and that's when the Guajiro came from outside to knock the ball down with his belly and score the goal.

Luis Díaz continued his brilliant performance, receiving a foul in the box in the 34th minute. The Colombian got behind the Wolverhampton defender and in the race to win the ball, he headed it and the goalkeeper took it over, so the central referee sanctioned the foul. The VAR reviewed a possible infringement by the Colombian player, but it was dismissed despite the vocal protests of the Wolves players.

The goalkeeper was converted by Mohamed Salah, who fired a high cross after the goalkeeper dived on his left hand. This leaves Salah with 23 Premier League goals, the top scorer in the competition, far behind Erling Haaland.

With this goal, Luis Díaz reaches 13 in the 2024-2025 season, equalling what he did with Liverpool last season, in a significantly lower number of games (34). The best goal-scoring ability of the Guajiro was with FC Porto in the 2021-2022 season, when he scored 16 goals.
