Wednesday's win against Southampton was very valuable for Liverpool. They are aiming to win all three remaining titles this season, after being Carabao Cup champions last weekend, and for that they needed to advance to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. But the mission was not an easy one, as more than a dozen squad players were absent due to injuries.

Stars such as Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson watched the game from the stands while recovering from physical problems, while coach Jurgen Klopp had to give opportunities to several youngsters to replace them.

They did a great job and were even decisive for the result, as Louie Koumas scored the opener and Jayden Danns, who came on in the second half, netted twice. The two 18-year-old forwards had an unforgettable night and showed that they are ready to help the team when needed, but the manager would definitely prefer to count on every player in the squad.

The Reds' next match will be this Saturday at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest. There, they will try to get a victory that will allow them to remain at the top of the Premier League standings. And for that, the return of two players who are already recovered from their respective injuries could be key: Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nuñez.

What happened to them?

Szoboszlai is much improved from the muscle injury he suffered vs Chelsea in January and, in fact, could have played Liverpool's last two games. But the club doctors and Jurgen Klopp preferred not to take any risks and left him out of the squad. Darwin Nuñez had just an injury that forced him to be replaced vs Brentford and as a precaution he did not play the last few games, but he will surely be ready to return on Saturday.
