Last week, Liverpool put a hand in the Premier League title.
Important wins over Manchester City and Newcastle United coincided with Arsenal dropping points against West Ham United and Nottingham Forest. All in all, Liverpool have established a not inconsiderable 13-point lead at the top of the table.
Now it seems the question is not whether the Reds will be crowned champions, but when. Arsenal, who are still on their way, are decimated by injuries and lacking in confidence. Unsurprisingly, statistics provider Opta has given Arne Slot's side a 98.8% chance of finishing top of the table.
These are the dates Liverpool fans will be keeping an eye on in the final weeks of the season.
The earliest Liverpool can win the 2024/25 Premier League
Hypothetically, Liverpool could have secured the Premier League title at the start of April. The Reds would need Arsenal to lose their next four league games against Manchester United, Chelsea, Fulham and Everton, which seems extremely unlikely despite the Gunners' poor run of form. Furthermore, the leaders would also need to win their next three games against Southampton, Everton and Fulham.
In this scenario, Liverpool could secure top spot with a win over Fulham on the weekend of 5-6 April .
When will Liverpool clinch the 2024/25 Premier League title if Arsenal keep winning?
Liverpool have played one more game than Arsenal currently but the north London side will play their game in hand on March 16 when they host Chelsea, the same day the Reds face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
Should they triumph against the Blues and match Liverpool's results for the remainder of the season, Slot's men would be forced to wait until the weekend of 3 and 4 May to claim the title away to Chelsea. Should they win the league at Stamford Bridge, they would host Arsenal in their next league game, and the Gunners could make them a corridor of honour at Anfield.
However, if Liverpool maintain their 13-point lead and Arsenal fail to close the gap, they would clinch the title on the weekend of April 26-27 when they host north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Could Liverpool win the 2024/25 Premier League against Arsenal?
Liverpool could win the Premier League at home against Arsenal on the weekend of 10/11 May, but it would require special circumstances. Ahead of that game, which is the penultimate game of the season for both clubs, the Gunners would need to have cut the gap on Liverpool to between four and seven points.
When will Liverpool lift the Premier League trophy?
Liverpool did not have the chance to celebrate their previous Premier League title in front of a packed Anfield due to the coronavirus pandemic, but they will get that chance this time around.
Regardless of how Liverpool win the title, they will be presented with the trophy after their final league game of the season at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday 25 May.
How many points can Liverpool get this season?
Manchester City hold the current record for most points accumulated in a single Premier League season, when they managed 100 during the 2017/18 campaign. The Cityzens also amassed 98 the following season.
Liverpool picked up 99 points when they lifted their only Premier League title to date in 2019/20, and also produced the two highest totals for a runners-up. Despite finishing second in 2018/19 and 2021/22, they picked up 97 and 92 points respectively in those campaigns.
This season, Liverpool's maximum points total is 97 (two fewer than their previous title) but they will need to win all ten of their remaining games to secure that tally.
In contrast, Arsenal's highest total is just 87 points, meaning they would need to win all 11 of their remaining games and Liverpool would need to drop at least ten points in their remaining league games.
