The player was on Barcelona's radar this summer, but it looks like he will end up with the Reds. Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool are still searching for a central midfielder, and although they have a Plan C after the refusals of Lavia and Caicedo, a new name has now emerged as a possibility.
The player in question has been one of the most sought-after players on the market, with clubs such as Barcelona and Manchester United among those who have shown interest in signing him, following his outstanding performance at Qatar 2022. The player in question is Sofyan Amrabat, the Moroccan midfielder who currently plays for Fiorentina. According to Dutch media outlet AD, "Liverpool are on course to finalise the deal in the coming days."
However, market expert Fabrizio Romano stressed that "no formal offer has been tabled yet" and that Liverpool "are still exploring the market for a new defensive midfielder". While Amrabat is not a player who can provide the same level of performance as a Caicedo, Lavia or Doucouré, he is an extremely interesting player who could provide Liverpool with a lot of potential. Especially after the departure of Thiago, with whom he shares much more similarity.
Just as there was talk of interest from United and Barcelona, it was also anticipated that Al Ahli would pay 60 million euros to Fiorentina for the full amount of Sofyan Amrabat's transfer, but for the moment the Arab club's intentions are not to complete the deal.
