The Reds equalled their Premier League winning record with goals from Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz. Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho also scored as Jürgen Klopp's men secured their first league win of the season.

The feeling of victory is sweet, especially after such a convincing and dominant display.  Liverpool have got themselves on track in the win column, and the overall standings section is looking healthy too. Whatever nerves there were in the match were almost completely dissipated after six minutes of high intensity. Diaz made a tremendous leap and Elliott dazzled some more to put the hosts firmly in control.

More Liverpool news:

The hosts continued to play some brilliant football and could have added to the scoreline before Alexander-Arnold and Firmino did the same. The fifth came on the stroke of half-time and Klopp's side became the first Liverpool team to score five goals in the first half of a league game since 1958.

An own goal made it 6-0 after the break and Firmino, Carvalho and Diaz scored in front of the Kop as the Reds ran riot. Attempts to secure 10th place were unsuccessful, but this was the club's biggest ever Premier League win.

Elliot in the Elite

Two goals for Liverpool, and both of them absolute beauties. Elliott opened his Premier League account with a stunning strike from the edge of the box to make it 2-0 to Bournemouth last weekend.

It was a sensational follow-up to his only other goal for the club, a wonderful volley on his return from injury against Cardiff City last season. Hopefully the 19-year-old will have many more goals to come.
