Liverpool equalled their Premier League winning record with goals from Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz. Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho also scored as Jürgen Klopp's side secured their first league win of the season.

The feeling of victory is sweet, especially after a convincing and dominant display. The Reds started in the win column. Whatever nerves there were in the game were almost completely dissipated after six minutes of high intensity. Diaz made a tremendous leap and Elliott dazzled some more to put the hosts firmly in control.

The hosts continued to play some brilliant football and could have added to the scoreline before Alexander-Arnold and Firmino did the same. The fifth came on the stroke of half-time and Klopp's side became the first Liverpool team to score five goals in the first half of a Premier League match since 1958.

An own goal made it 6-0 after the break, Firmino, Carvalho and Diaz scoring in front of the Kop as the Reds ran riot. Attempts to get another goal were unsuccessful, but this was the biggest win in the club's Premier League history.

Firmino

Firmino did what he does best. It took him just 31 minutes to produce a hat-trick of assists and add Liverpool's fourth goal. With this feat, he became the first player since February 2017 to be directly involved in four goals in the first half of a Premier League match.

And a brilliant day was even better for the Brazilian. His close-range finish in the 62nd minute was his 100th goal for the club. A standing ovation was the least he deserved when he was withdrawn 20 minutes from time.
