The Colombia national team is preparing for two new friendly matches against Iraq and Germany. One of the big news in the squad of the team led by coach Néstor Lorenzo is the return of Luis Díaz after overcoming the knee injury, which left him out of the field for several months. At a press conference prior to the national team's match against Iraq at the Mestalla stadium in Valencia, Spain, the player spoke about what he wants to contribute to the Colombian national team and his desire to attend the next World Cup.

"It is a privilege for me to return to the national team. Being here representing our country makes me happy. I have always been attentive and attentive to their games when I could not attend. I think we have been gaining a lot of things as we have been getting to know each other not only with the players, but with the coaching staff, I think we are getting to know each other better, I think we are doing well," said Díaz.

Díaz also stressed the importance of the so-called renewal that the Colombian team is having: "As I said, those who have come to the national team have been coupling very well, both those who are now and those who are not. All of us who are part of this national team. Surely, the coach is seeing all the players, so I think he's doing well. That's important in the national team, everyone knows what they have to do when they come, that's very important.

Lucho's wish

The striker, who has been with Liverpool since January 2022, made clear his intentions as a member of the national team. "I'll do what I've been doing since the beginning, which is my game, I'm not here to show more or less, what I've been doing I think I'll bring to the national team and I'll try to help my teammates, which I think is the most important thing. Togetherness makes the team and that's what we're here for, to help". He also recalled the difficult moments he experienced when he got injured: "I was in a magnificent moment, playing well in every game I played, I was happy with what was happening, the injury came up, it was tough for me, but I knew how to get out of it, I got much more motivated and worked harder to be able to be back with the national team".
