England play away to Malta on Friday as part of the qualifiers for next year's European Championship in Germany and manager Gareth Southgate has surprised with his line-up by starting Trent Alexander Arnold and Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Remarkably, Alexander Arnold will play in midfield as he does for Liverpool in a position that German manager Jurgen Klopp adapted to him and which paid dividends in the final part of the season as they climbed up the table and qualified for the Europa League after several poorly played games.

England are top of group C with six points and if they win tonight in Malta they will be closer to qualifying for the European Championship, remembering that on Monday they will play against North Macedonia at home and if they win that match they will have a good chance of qualifying for the tournament to be held in Germany next year.

The bad news

While this is happening in Europe, in Brazil the red lights went on as Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson had to leave the national team training due to a problem in one of the fingers of his hand, something that obviously also worries Liverpool and especially the German coach Jürgen Klopp because if it is a major injury it could become the worst news of the year.
