Manchester United, with an FA Cup clash against Manchester City still to come, are already preparing for the next campaign and their squad is set to include the departure of one of their most criticised players by Red Devils fans, defender Harry Maguire, who is reportedly being offered a lucrative pay-off.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Manchester United would be willing to pay him up to £10 million (just over $12.5 million) to terminate his contract with the club, allowing him to negotiate with any other team in total freedom in this transfer window.

Maguire, under contract with United until 2025 and earning £190,000 a week ($238,000), has lost his place this season under Erik Ten Hag, appearing in just 31 games so far and only 16 starts, giving way to the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and even a central-defensive midfielder Luke Shaw.

In fact, it is worth mentioning the situation of Jurrien Timber (21 years old) who has already left his time at Ajax Amsterdam up in the air. With a valuation that stands at the not inconsiderable figure of €50m, the centre-back is the delight of two Premier League powerhouses: Liverpool and Manchester United. According to Sky Sports Germany, both the Red Devils and United are determined to make a move for the Dutchman. His contract with Ajax runs until mid-2025, so we will have to keep a close eye on how the duel between United and Liverpool for Timber's signature unfolds.
