Real Madrid have been working for months on planning for next season, both in terms of departures and signings, as well as renewals. It is a given that Benzema, Kroos and Modric will extend their ties with the club, while Ceballos, Nacho and Asensio have one foot out of the door because everything suggests that they will not accept the renewal offer that Madrid have put on the table. "Whatever we want to do to improve the squad we are going to do, don't worry," Ancelotti told a press conference three days ago.

On the transfer front, the technical secretariat's priorities are twofold: to close the transfer of Jude Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund (the agreement with the player is complete) and to find a guaranteed nine-goal player to complement Benzema. The Blancos captain has been hampered by physical problems throughout the season and Madrid have consequently paid the price, missing the Ballon d'Or's best form in many games this term.

One of the latest names to come to the fore to strengthen Real Madrid's attack is Roberto Firmino. The 31-year-old Brazilian striker has decided not to renew his contract with Liverpool and will be a free agent as of 30 June. According to Fabrizio Romano, Firmino is on Madrid's shortlist of four or five centre-forwards for next season.

Welcome to Anfield

Although it will not be a direct exchange between the owners, while Firmino will leave Anfield to play for Real Madrid, there is one of their players who could arrive on Liverpool. Spanish striker Marcos Asensio, who is out of contract and will not renew his contract, has become a candidate to sign for the Reds, who, having failed to qualify for the Champions League, have reduced their financial funds and will have to look for opportunities in the market.
