The offers from Saudi Arabian football do not stop, and now it is Hafez Al-Medlej, the leader of the Arabian country, who warns about the desire and ambitions of all the teams in the league to sign the biggest stars of European football. Al-Medlej responded to critics accusing Saudi Arabia of using the same method once employed by Chinese football, a league that failed to bring in big names for multimillion-dollar salaries, by only bringing in players in their final stages as players who went to the Asian continent to collect a pay cheque.

"We are only at the beginning. From now on, all transferable players will be a target for Saudi clubs. China's experience has nothing to do with ours, it was purely marketing. Football is not very popular there. In Arabia we have a state project and it will not be limited to four big teams, but to all of them. Because the passion of the Saudis for football has no limits," he said. Hafez Al-Medlej spoke of the latest stars to pack their bags for Saudi Arabia: "We don't sign players who are finished. Al Hilal will sign Ruben Neves, who is 26 years old and wanted by Barcelona. And Benzema arrived at Al Ittihad after winning the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid (...) We are waiting for Bernardo Silva to arrive from Manchester City, and we should also start working on signing Mohamed Salah," he concluded in his declarations to the Koura newspaper.

Following recent statements by Ceferin, the current UEFA president, who said he did not feel threatened by Arabia, Al-Medlej also had words for him and compared the situation to the departure of Messi and Ronaldo from the Spanish market: "The departure of big stars from Europe will be a blow to the Champions League, which will lose much of its lustre. We have the example of the Spanish league, which lost a lot with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. And it lost more when Messi left for PSG. The departure of stars from Europe will affect sponsorship and television contracts," he said.

The offer

The threat of Saudi money in European football is now a reality, with many clubs fearing they will lose their star players to multi-million dollar offers, some well above their real market value. We will see how the transfer market progresses and what future offers may come from the Arabian country.
