Liverpool's season came to an end after a 4-4 draw with Southampton on Sunday, leaving them in fifth place in the overall standings with a total of 67 points. Next year they will have to watch the Champions League from afar and play in the Europa League, one of the tournaments that Jurgen Klopp has not won since he arrived at the club.

Although it was a very complicated year, the Reds managed to straighten the path at the end of the campaign and closed with 11 unbeaten games, adding an important streak of nine consecutive victories so they could climb positions and finish in the top five aspiring until the last moment to get into the Champions League, something they finally did not achieve.

One of the players who surprised in this final stretch of the tournament and who has shown all his quality helping the team in the most complicated moments is the academy player Curtis Jones who was a starter in the last 11 games contributing with three goals and an assist which makes us think that he can continue in the club for the next season.

The record

According to journalist Michael Reid, Curtis Jones is the youngest English midfielder to start 11+ consecutive games for Liverpool in all competitions since Steven Gerrard in February 2000. This record puts him in Premier League history and puts him one step ahead of Jordan Henderson who could never achieve this kind of record.
