There was a notable absence from training on Wednesday, as it appears that Uruguayan striker Darwin Nuñez was absent and this has raised some doubts about his participation for the start of the Premier League, when the Reds visit Chelsea on Sunday in what will undoubtedly be the best game of the first day, so the absence of Nuñez in one of the last training sessions before the start of the Premier League has caused a great deal of uncertainty.
Speculation was rife that he was absent from training and that during the last pre-season game against Darmstadt 98 he was a substitute. However, Darwin Nunez was absent from Wednesday's practice as, according to Anfield Watch, he was performing press duties at the AXA Training Centre, ruling out a possible injury and therefore absence for Sunday's game.
On Wednesday, the Uruguayan striker's absence was not the only one as Conor Bradley and Nat Phillips were also absent from training. According to the Liverpool ECHO, the youthful Bradley is still rehabbing from a minor injury while Philips has not been present during pre-season and is said to be close to a move to Leeds United and could be on his last legs at Liverpool.
Last season was very complicated for Darwin Núñez and the Reds, however in this preseason the Uruguayan striker has shown to be at an increasingly better level and more and more adapted to the style of play of Jürgen Klopp and in the friendly matches he was the scorer of the team along with Diogo Jota with four goals each, however Darwin Núñez looks more and more adapted on the pitch and it is expected that this season he can be the scorer that the Reds need.
