This international break for FIFA has brought for the Reds fans several interesting matches involving the confrontation between several of their players, starting this coming Thursday a tough fight at the Metropolitano de Futbol Roberto Meléndez stadium with the match between Colombia and Uruguay, with Luis Diaz for the Colombians and Darwin Nunez for the Uruguayans.

Although this is only the third match in the Conmebol qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Uruguay and Colombia will be competing for third place in the overall standings, with Lucho Diaz and his group having a slight advantage as they have one point more than the team led by Pantera Nunez. During the long transatlantic flight, as well as reminiscing about their first clashes on opposite sides in Portugal, they had time to share their thoughts on the third direct confrontation they will have with their national teams. "We didn't get to place any bets, but we came close. We talked a lot, mostly about how difficult the match was going to be. We joked and wished each other well," said Diaz, who has nine goals in 41 appearances for the Colombian National Team.

For his part, Nunez acknowledged that his Liverpool team-mate, with whom he has shared 19 games in all competitions, warned him about the heat in Barranquilla at 3.30pm, when the pre-World Cup clash kicks off. This clash has been much talked about by Reds fans who have been paying close attention to the players' pre-match statements, with fans of both players and Liverpool following the match on Thursday 12 October at 21:30 hrs BST. This will not be the only duel between Liverpool players during these days of international competitions, as on 18 October at 01:00 am BST, Nunez and Becker will meet face to face.
