This Friday the ball rolls again on the road to Euro 2024 and, as part of the third matchday of the Qualifiers for the final tournament, England visit Malta with the mission to continue their perfect start in Group C, where they are the sole leaders with six points. Gareth Southgate's side go into the game on fire after completing their second successive win in the last round of qualifying for the continental showpiece.

In their opener, the Three Lions beat Italy 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples, with Declan Rice (13′) and Harry Kane (44′) scoring the team's all-time leading scorer in the process. They went on to beat Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in London, with Kane (37′) and Bukayo Saka (40′) on the scoresheet.

With this result, The Rose Team are top of the table with six points. For their part, Malta have experienced the opposite fate, with two defeats that have them bottom of the table: 2-1 against North Macedonia in the opener and 2-0 against Italy the previous day.

Southgate's decision

According to several reports, coach Southgate has some surprises for his line-up for this match, as despite the good performance shown by Jordan Henderson at the end of the Premier League season, he will not start him either at full-back or as a midfielder, and instead Trent Alexander Arnold could start from the beginning.
