The giants of Europe have woken up: Liverpool claimed a 9-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Reds equalled a Premier League winning record to seal their first top-flight victory of the 2022-23 season.

Liverpool scored twice in the opening six minutes, Luis Diaz heading in Roberto Firmino's cross before Harvey Elliott did brilliantly to head home a wonderful first-time finish from the edge of the box soon after.

Then Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the third just before the half-hour mark with a long-range effort into the top corner before Firmino scored the fourth goal from a deflected cross.

Virgil van Dijk headed home from a corner before the break and Chris Mepham turned Alexander-Arnold's cross into his own net seconds after the restart. When Jürgen Klopp's side increased their lead. Firmino grabbed his second goal, taking advantage of Mark Travers' failure to stop Andy Robertson's shot.

Fabio Carvalho also scored his first goal for the club when he volleyed home from Kostas Tsimikas and Diaz headed Liverpool's ninth and final goal before the end to equal the division's all-time winning record.
