Farewell to You'll Never Walk Alone, the new Liverpool fans' song that's a sensation

One of the greatest signs of love a fan can have for their team is to sing at the top of their lungs the anthem or chants that fully represent their institution, Liverpool being a very fortunate team to have one of the best supporters in the world that makes any opponent tremble when You'll never walk alone echoes around Anfield.

That chant made famous by Liverpool in 1963 seems to be coming to a relative end, because from the stands, the Reds fans have begun to adopt another melody that has gradually become one of the new banners that identify the institution, being used for the first time in the final of the Carabo Cup in 2022 where the Reds were champions against Chelsea from the penalty shootout.

The song the fans adopted in 2022 was "One Kiss" by British singer, Dua Lipa, and while the tune bears no similarity or situation that can be compared to any team event, some words in a verse did match a banner the fans waved at the pre-final show before the 2018 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The British singer while singing her hit song that she had released just that year was joined by a section of the stand waving a banner with the image of the legend and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, who was seen kissing the Champions League won in the 2005 edition, leaving just a part of the song where he said; "A kiss is all it takes.... The feeling won't let me sleep".

While You'll never walk alone describes the loyalty of the fans with the team, Dua Lipa's song does the same with Gerrard's banner shown in 2018, and the fact that today they continue to sing it speaks of the great acceptance that the fans had to the melody, showing that tradition does not necessarily have to be fought or against the new ways, being One Kiss, already a representative with which every day is more and more related to Liverpool.
