Darwin Nunez's early days at Liverpool are reminiscent of Fernando Torres' first performance in a red shirt in a pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen. Just like Nunes, Torres was lively in the match but at times floundered on the pitch and missed various opportunities in front of goal.

On the pitch, Nunes has played just over 60 minutes of football — not even a full-length football game — and while he will be disappointed with the chances he has missed so far, he will be confident of putting them away in the future.

His early days at the club have been a hectic and whirlwind mass of movement travelling from Thailand to Singapore, and having to participate in open training sessions to the public rather than more intimate behind closed doors sessions that would provide more of an opportunity for integration.

Nunez will know he is capable of making a similar impact

From that small glimpse, despite his previous track record at Athletic Madrid, nobody would have predicted that Torres would become one of Liverpool's greatest ever number nines and that he would end up as the club's top scorer that season.

Nunez will know he is capable of making a similar impact. He will not care too much about a few missed chances and an unfortunate miskick. Now that Jürgen Klopp's Reds are embarking on a more intimate trip to Austria, he will have the chance to properly integrate into the team and sooner or later the goals will come.

As Torres has proven in the past, pre-season form has little impact on the actual season, and Nunez will look to follow suit.
