Little is yet known about the new direction that Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool are set to take in the coming days following the announcement that the Anfield outfit are for sale. Capital similar to that of City has been identified as a potential buyer for the six-time European champions, which would give Liverpool huge financial potential. Perhaps that is why three players are already on the market in January, as Calcio Mercato points out.

According to the Italian mass media, the Liverpool players who are already on the exit ramp are "defender Nat Phillips, midfielder Naby Keita and winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain". In the case of the latter two, their possible sale is due to the fact that the British club does not want to exercise the possibility of keeping them for one more season and, as their contract expires in June, they intend to cash in on their sales before they leave for free wherever they wish.

That is not the case with the defender, but rather that he has no place in Jürgen Klopp's team, which also plans to make reinforcements in the winter transfer window, which will begin and end in January 2023, so they want to make room in the squad for future and immediate additions.

Under contract until 2025, the 25-year-old only played 63 minutes against Crystal Palace in the second Premier League game, so the Reds are unlikely to miss him. By extension, these departures are seen as the first signs that something is afoot at Liverpool due to the more than likely sale of the club and the hypothetical arrival of petrodollars from the Middle East.

Be that as it may, the activity of the English club is already being closely monitored in Europe, even behind closed doors, as it could change the outlook for the historic club from the city of the Beatles in a short space of time. At the moment, there are already three departures in sight; it remains to be seen what the reaction will be in the form of signings. The Reds' Champions League last-16 opponents Real Madrid are, of course, keeping a close eye on the English side's next steps.
