Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel admitted on Saturday that Senegal's Sadio Mané's situation at the club is not easy after an unsatisfactory season and with plenty of competition in the positions he could play in. "Sadio had an unsatisfactory season. His performance was below expectations, below his own expectations and below the expectations of the club," Tuchel said at Bayern's pre-season training camp.

"The competition for him is very tough. In the position where I see him best there is Kingsley Coman, who is extremely important for us, and Serge Gnabry, who has regained his form. That creates a constellation that is extremely difficult for him," he added. Tuchel maintained that Mané knows his opinion and the club's opinion, but added that he is still "our player, he has a contract and it's natural for him to be in training camp".

Mané is considered a leading candidate to leave Bayern and some media reports have claimed the club would be willing to accept an offer. This situation leaves him free to go to Arabia and negotiate a juicy contract that would offer him more money than he earns in Germany.

The Salary

During his time at Liverpool, Sadio Mané was on a salary of 10 million and it was just that that caused his departure from Anfield as the Senegalese wanted to earn more. Now in Arabia, according to various reports, he is reported to be earning up to 22 million a year.
