Many have been the players who have passed through Liverpool with the promise of becoming the new stars of the team, but only a few have succeeded. It is not easy to succeed in the biggest team in England, since history has taught us that having talent is not enough to become an Anfield legend, although in the recent past the fans had hopes in a player who in the end ended up throwing his career away.

We are talking about Daniel Sturridge, a 33-year-old English winger who came to be considered one of the great promises of world football when he was young, particularly during his time at Liverpool, where he showed the best level of his career, which even led him to play in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Sturridge formed, together with Philippe Coutinho, one of the most promising duos in the world, but neither of them could become a Liverpool legend. But, in Daniel's particular case, it was due to bad decisions in the legal field, as in 2020 he was suspended from all professional football-related activities due to illegal betting.

This suspension left him without playing for 18 months, and when he returned he was never the same. Sturridge wasted what could have been a great career, as he had the talent and the necessary conditions to achieve it, but he chose to take the wrong path and now, although he has not retired, it seems that nobody remembers him.

What is Daniel Sturridge doing today?

After being suspended in 2020, when he was playing in Turkey for Trabzonspor, Sturridge was left without a team and after serving his punishment he signed for a year with the Australian club Perth Glory, however it did not go well and he is currently looking for a job, as he has not retired from football, but no team in the world seems to want him.
