Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was all smiles again as his side beat Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield in the Premier League matchday 4 fixture. The manager said his side showed what they are all about, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.
The Reds produced an impressive attacking display in L4, with Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz scoring twice each, while Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho also scored, plus an own goal from Chris Mepham.
According to the German manager, his side needed to prove a point to themselves after a short pre-season with mixed results; good performances and less good performances, completely normal for a pre-season, having a peak so early in the season and playing really well [against City] and then going down for some reason.
With concerns of more injuries, after having at least 10 players in the freezer without being able to use them in this past Saturday's game against Bournemouth, reporters were concerned about young Harvey Elliot's substitution at half-time, so they asked Klopp if it was a new injury.
"Harvey felt a little bit in another game. We wouldn't have taken him off, but with a 5-0 lead we thought if it's not the moment, it won't be again. Nothing after the game, assessment now, spoke to the physio a little while ago. He should be completely fine," replied the German coach.
