As Liverpool continue to restructure by signing much younger players, those who have been on Merseyside for years are just spectators as the squad gradually changes every year, with their place in the summer or winter transfer window at risk of being replaced by someone of equal or better quality but a much younger age.

The departure of Roberto Firmino and James Milner are part of the necessary change that manager Jürgen Klopp wants for the next few seasons, leaving midfielders Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcántara as the most experienced men, men who have apparently not escaped being mentioned as the next possible departures in a year's time.

While Henderson's case may be a little more complicated as he is the captain of the team and one of Jürgen Klopp's most trusted players, things look different for the Spanish midfielder, who has played some exceptional games at peak moments for the team, his inconsistency through injury has made him a vulnerable man who could be sold even before his contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Fans want Alcántara out of the team

As much as the man has been a great midfield addition for the Reds in his time, fans across social media understand that his time on Merseyside is over, with a large number of fans agreeing that there should be no hesitation in selling him if a bid for his name comes in during these weeks of buying and selling in Europe, with Klopp currently pinning his hopes on Stefan Bajcetic as his compatriot's successor.
