Darwin Nunez arrived at Anfield in June 2022, being the scorer of Benfica, so it was expected a very important role for the Uruguayan, however at that time Roberto Firmino was Liverpool's starting centre forward, so Darwin Nunez was Firmino's change, plus the language has been a problem, so his adaptation was slower than expected.
Despite the adversity, Darwin Nunez in his first game for the Reds scored the equaliser against Fulham with a superb finish to start his Liverpool goalscoring account, but his second goal came in a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal. Nunez suffered six injuries that prevented the South American from showing his full potential during his first season at Anfield.
So far and after just over a year at Liverpool, Darwin Nunez seems to be settling in more and more, and so far he has played 45 games and scored a total of 17 goals. Although these are not the numbers expected for a player of his quality, the Uruguayan has always played with great professionalism, leaving everything on the pitch.
During his first season Nunez was left to owe, however during the preseason he has shown his great quality so the Uruguayan is adapted to the system of play, and this season will undoubtedly be the awakening of this striker and he has shown it, as during the last game against Newcastle he entered in the 77th minute of the second half and it took him 16 minutes to turn the scoreboard with two goals and thus give Liverpool the first away victory. Darwin will undoubtedly be the team's top scorer this season.
