With two weeks to go before the summer transfer window opens in England, Liverpool is one of the teams with more prospects under the radar, considering that last season did not end the way everyone expected it to. Therefore, the Bundesliga looks like an attractive market for young and affordable players to strengthen the team.
While the top priority of Jürgen Klopp and his coaching staff is to shore up the midfield with the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister and other players, there are also other areas of the field that require the attention of the Reds' management, such is the case of the defense, as last season Liverpool allowed 47 goals despite having the best defender in the Premier League, Virgil van Dijk.
Virgil has suffered several injuries in recent years, so he is no longer that invincible defender, which was noticed throughout the last season and in view of this, the Liverpool board headed by the newly arrived Jorg Schmadtke, would be looking for young talent that can bring defensive strength to the team led by Jürgen Klopp, and would be willing to pay for a player who meets the characteristics sought by the coaching staff.
Schmadtke has his sights set on 22-year-old Dutch defender Micky van de Ven, according to the WAZ portal, whom he knows very well as the player plays for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, the last team Schmadtke worked for.
Micky van de Ven joined Wolfsburg a season ago from FC Volendam, and in the recently completed campaign he played 33 Bundesliga matches and scored one goal, which has him valued at 18 million euros, according to the Transfermarkt portal.
