Liverpool's last season was a failure, as the team failed to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League. But Jürgen Klopp has proven to be able to turn around the most complicated situations and that is why he has made the decision to look to the future and has started to think about the players who can replace the current big stars of the team.

One of the great lessons that the 2022-2023 season left us is that it is necessary to hire young talent and also that great players do not last forever, because in the last campaign several players who had been important in previous years did not perform at the best level and that is why both Klopp and the Liverpool board have already begun to think about possible reinforcements.

Such is the case of Virgil van Dijk who had a difficult season with the Reds, as the 31-year-old Dutch defender struggled with injuries and although he is still one of the best defenders in the world, it has become clear that he does not have many years left playing at the highest level.

Given this, Klopp has already started looking for the man who could be his heir apparent and several big names have emerged. Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba lead the list of candidates, however it seems that van Dijk's replacement could be much cheaper than they had thought and Klopp would already have him in mind. It is Rhys Williams, a 22-year-old central defender who belongs to Liverpool and is one of the great promises of the team.

The future of Rhys Williams

Although today Rhys Williams has not yet proven to have the qualities to play in the first team on a regular basis, Jürgen Klopp sees him as a possible great prospect for Liverpool's defense and that is why he has refused to sell him definitively. However, the latest information claims that Williams will go on a season-long loan to Aberdeen, albeit without an option to buy.
