After a disappointing end of the season in which the team failed to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool is already preparing to compete next season in which they will have participation in European competitions, but it will be in the Europa League. Given this scenario, the board is already analyzing the formation of the squad for next season, in which they intend to develop the team's young talent.
As part of the confirmed departures at Liverpool, it was announced that several players who were key to winning titles in recent years, including James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keyta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, have left the club. With these departures, young players who played on loan last season could be given the opportunity to earn a place in the first team.
One of the priorities for Jürgen Klopp and his coaching staff is to rejuvenate the team for the medium and long-term project, which is why in the next transfer window the Anfield squad is expected to sign young players who can contribute immediately to the club's objectives, but who also have future projection.
In that sense, it is said that the top priority for Liverpool is to reinforce the midfield, but Klopp does not rule out making new additions in the defensive area, taking into account that this year, in the Premier League alone, Liverpool conceded 47 goals. Although it is true that Virgil van Dijk is still one of the best defenders in the world, he needs an heir because at 31 years old he is not a player who will play many more years at the highest level and Klopp could see in Sepp van den Berg the ideal replacement for the Dutchman.
Sepp van den Berg is a Dutch-born central defender who plays for Liverpool and played for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga last season, where he was part of the squad that was relegated to the German second division. Sepp is one of Liverpool's most promising prospects, as the 21-year-old has proven himself capable of playing at the highest level in a league dominated by one team.
