In the summer of 2022 something broke inside Liverpool, and that is that Sadio Mané's departure to German football left Liverpool unprotected and adrift, as the club tried to fill that void by signing Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, both being a failure, as the former has not been able to demonstrate his quality and the latter, continues to be injured.

Mané was part of the magical trident of The Pool, who along with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, won Liverpool huge titles, the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup being the most important. The Senegalese left Anfield through the back door after being badly treated by FSG who sold him for a measly 30 million euros.

Recently, former footballer and now manager Paul Merson declared that the sale of Sadio to Bayern Munich was the worst stupid thing Liverpool have done in recent years. "Honestly, you'd have been better off keeping him for another year and letting him go for free," the Premier League star told SKY Sports News.

Mané's importance

The 30-year-old Mané continues to have his ups and downs with the Germans, as he is still fresh from the knee pain that prevented him from going to the World Cup in Qatar with Senegal, and has even suffered from it, missing the start of the 2023 season with the Bundesliga champions. To this day, the Red's fans chant Sadio Mané's name at every game.
