After a disappointing season in which the team failed to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League, Liverpool is shaping up to be one of the most active teams in the upcoming transfer window that is just days away. Jürgen Klopp has mentioned that the priority is to reinforce the midfield, so they will focus on players who meet the requirements they are looking for, even if that means rejecting World Cup winning players.
In recent days, top priority and number one target for Klopp, Alexis Mac Allister, became the first reinforcement for the 2023-2024 campaign, after having a fantastic season with Brighton & Hove Albion and with the Argentina national team, with which he won the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
After Mac Allister's arrival, the Anfield board started working on the next reinforcements, and although it was mentioned that the priority is to bring in midfielders, names of players who play in other positions emerged, but thanks to their enormous quality and experience they could shore up Klopp's squad and help us return to the Champions League as soon as possible.
However, the coaching staff has begun to rule out the arrival of some players, as they consider that it is more important to prioritize the development of our young players. Such is the case of Benjamin Pavard, the right-back who currently plays for FC Bayern and who has been linked with a possible transfer to Anfield in recent weeks. Pavard, 27, was a World Cup winner with France at Russia 2018, where he scored one of the best goals of the tournament.
According to the latest reports, Jürgen Klopp would not be interested in signing Benjamin Pavard, since he considers that the club does not need more right-backs. In addition, the German tactician is said to be impressed with 18-year-old Luke Chambers, who played in up to five different positions during his loan spell with Scottish league side Kilmarnock last season.
