One of the big signings in the winter transfer window was the arrival of Cody Gakpo at Liverpool after a great performance at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The young Dutch player has won the hearts of Anfield in a short time and has even adapted to a new position to better fit into Jürgen Klopp's scheme.
Gakpo promises to be one of the most important players in Klopp's new Liverpool project, as the 24-year-old has shown himself to be a multi-functional player with scoring ability and willing to step out of his comfort zone for the greater good of the team. Gakpo has shown himself to be a focused player, which could lead him to become one of our club's biggest stars.
In that sense, the young attacker has already been able to observe what goes on inside the locker room of England's biggest team and has started to develop great friendships under the guidance of his compatriot Virgil van Dijk, who is one of the team's captains and has helped Cody Gakpo adapt as quickly as possible to the Premier League.
It is fair to say that the coming season promises to be one of great progress for Cody Gakpo, as Jürgen Klopp's priority will be to give more playing time to young players in order to strengthen the long-term project and return Liverpool to the Champions League as soon as possible. However, it is also true that the team will need its veteran players to provide the team with experience.
During his first season at Anfield, Cody Gakpo established himself as a reliable and prolific player and in his latest interview for The Mirror he claimed that Mohamed Salah is the "real leader" in the team's attack. “At Liverpool, there is someone running the attack called No Salah, I can't speak highly enough about Mo”, he said.
