Henderson made a fool of Southampton and his future away from Liverpool as season ends

Liverpool had a crazy game at the end of the Premier League season when they visited Southampton as after starting 2-0 up the home side turned the scoreline around 4-2; however, late goals from Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota levelled the scores. 

Jota and Roberto Firmino, who made his farewell to the club with a goal, gave the Reds an early lead, but the home side equalised before half-time. For the second half the Saints came out inspired and turned the score around scoring two more goals taking advantage of a big mistake by captain Jordan Henderson who gave him the 4-2 goal. 

In the final stretch Liverpool had a great response and the Dutchman Cody Gakpo and the Portuguese Jota appeared to equalize the score causing the furore of the travelling kop that was present at Saint Mary's Stadium. Egypt's Mohamed Salah still had a great chance in the 78th minute to give the Reds the win when he crashed a ball against the post that looked like it might become Liverpool's fifth goal. 

Henderson's decision

The player singled out during this difficult match was captain Jordan Henderson, especially after his mistake in the Saints' fourth goal, with several fans on social media calling for his departure due to his poor performance this season. In this regard it should be noted that Henderson will have an immediate future away from Liverpool as now that the season is over he will concentrate on the England national team where he will play in the European Cup qualifiers.
