The 2022-2023 season came to a disappointing end for Liverpool fans after they failed to qualify for next season's Champions League and several players in the squad were exposed. One of them is captain Jordan Henderson, who has been rumored to be on his way out of the team this summer.

Jürgen Klopp's main objective for next season is to sign young players to strengthen the team's midfield. While there has been talk that Liverpool's presence in the upcoming Champions League is a factor in the transfer window, the Reds' board is confident that the Europa League is a tournament that could provide young players with a chance to test themselves on a continental stage.

Everything indicates that Liverpool will be one of the most active teams in the upcoming transfer market, however most of the objectives of Klopp and his coaching staff are focused on bringing to Anfield players with future projection and not established stars, since the generational change has been a priority when analyzing possible signings.

This decision would affect players like Jordan Henderson, who is 32 years old and with whom the fans are not very happy, as they consider that the team should focus on the medium and long term project. In that sense, Klopp would aim to take advantage of Southampton's disastrous campaign to snatch one of their youngest players and that even interests other big Premier League clubs.

The chosen one to replace Henderson

The player on the Reds' radar to replace Henderson is 19-year-old midfielder Roméo Lavia, who according to the Transfermarkt portal is valued at 25 million euros, a price that the Anfield board could pay without major problems.
