Liverpool added Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay to their squad during the summer after winning two major trophies and coming close to the quadruple last term. Manager Jurgen Klopp said all three players already feel at home and that unity is essential if his side are to repeat their challenge for major honours in 2022-23.

"There are some new faces, of course, and they will all be seen. If not tonight, then as the season progresses. The most positive thing is that they are already adapting to their new surroundings, be it the club, the city or the dressing room," he wrote in his notes for the official match day programme for tonight's home game against Crystal Palace.

According to the German manager, Liverpool is a welcoming city, which, without having to ask for it, the fans will give a corresponding welcome to new players who have only been with the club for a short time.

"This kind of togetherness is as important now as it was when I first arrived and last season, when we joined forces to campaign on all four fronts until the last day. Talent and hard work were the basis of everything we did and everything we achieved, but I've been in this game long enough to know that unity is just as important," he said.

He also asked the fans not to despair when there is so much football to be played and so much to happen between now and the end of the season that there is little point in making predictions, although he did promise that he will work hard as always to be the best he can be. "Even this doesn't guarantee success, but it gives us a chance to be successful. It hasn't worked badly so far either, so let's keep going," he concluded.
