Liverpool came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday in a Premier League matchday 30 tie at Anfield, where despite going two goals down in the first half they were able to level terms and even challenge for the win, although Mohamed Salah missed a penalty after a foul on Portugal's Diogo Jota.
The Reds have now gone five games without a win, although they did pick up their second draw after their midweek visit to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in London. In the opening minutes of the match, Brazilians Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus put the Gunners 2-0 up, but before the end of the first half, Mohamed popped up to poke the ball home after a great move from Andy Robertson down the left flank.
At half-time there was trouble between the flagman and Robertson as the referee apparently assaulted the Liverpool player and he is likely to face a heavy penalty. In the second half Liverpool were much the better side and generated several dangerous chances as well as the penalty missed by Salah and several saves by goalkeeper Ramsdale. At the end of the game Roberto Firmino came on to score the equaliser with a header.
There have been 22 penalties taken by Mohamed Salah in the Premier League with Liverpool and, with today's, three missed (in 2017 against Huddersfield, in 2021 against Leicester were the other two and one more against Bournemouth a few weeks ago). Sala is the team's official penalty taker but after this, manager Jurgen Klopp could make a tough decision and change the penalty taker, with Jordan Henderson or even Fabinho among the possible candidates.
