Liverpool beat Wolves 3-1 on Saturday 16 September 2023 in the fifth round of the Premier League 23/24 at Molineux Stadium. Former Reds player Peter Crouch and now commentator gave us a great moment before Liverpool's victory. On Saturday, Premier League action returned after the break for the first FIFA World Cup break of the season and Wolverhampton v Liverpool had a guest on one of the broadcasters who took the spotlight.
In the build-up to his ex-team's game, the former England striker reminisced about his time on the pitch by trying to take a shot on goal, something his team-mate did manage to do in the build-up at Molineux. Crouch settled the ball, prepared to strike the ball and on the way tripped over his supporting foot, the former striker ended up slipping, making contact with the ball (which went everywhere) and delivering one of the best moments on the internet so far in 2023.
The now analyst played for Liverpool from 2005 to 2008, before leaving for Portsmouth, after travelling around the UK he arrived at Burnley where, after six games and zero goals, he decided to retire after the 2018-2019 season. In five years he made 42 appearances for England, scoring 22 goals. After Saturday's match Liverpool beat Wolverhampton 3-1 with goals from Cody Gakpo, Andrew Robertson and an own goal from Hugo Bueno.
After retiring in 2019 as a professional footballer Peter Crouch has moved into the media where he has worked in different TV channels although he is currently part of the broadcasting team of TNT where according to several reports his wages would be less than 200,000 a year. His salary during his time as a footballer was as much as 7 million when he was signed by Tottenham.
