Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino opened the scoring for Liverpool, and within 14 minutes they had The Saints on the canvas, who miraculously went in at the break with a draw after goals from James Ward-Prowse and Kamaldeen Sulemana, who found the midfield a feast of errors.

By half-time Jurgen Klopp knew he had to move the pieces. To make matters worse Sulemana came on again, forcing the German coach to move his bench, where Jordan Henderson came on after Fabinho's nightmare of a game. Thinking that things would improve, again the midfield erred.

Fortunately for The Pool, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota appeared to make up for the game Klopp delivered, because although nothing was at stake, this game was important for The Saints, who were already relegated and wanted to give their fans something to cheer about. Klopp at the end of the game admitted the madness of the game, which featured eight goals.

Henderson with the pressure on

"Crazy game, a bit too crazy for my tastes to be honest. The start was really good, the finish was outstanding, in the middle it was not good enough, it's as easy as that," the German coach told the BBC. Klopp will see the club break ranks and report to pre-season in Singapore, where he will play Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
