Darwin Núñez could not be in a worse moment, as his participation in last season ended earlier than expected, as the last three games were not played due to a toe injury, which caused even in the game against Souhthampton not to be called by Klopp.

Núñez's surprise decision came as a shock to Pool fans who watched as the 23-year-old striker travelled to Marcelo Bielsa's first game as Uruguay coach against Nicaragua. Núñez preferred to put aside his holiday and even chose not to concentrate at Anfield for pre-season.

The most expensive signing in the Red's history owes a debt to the fans, as upon his arrival in the Premier League, he was compared to Erling Haaland, the Citizens star who will play in this weekend's Champions League final. Núñez moved from SL Benfica to Liverpool as a star, but his language problem and poor play, sentenced his career.

Núñez one of the fiascos

In addition to this, let's not forget that he was suspended for indiscipline for a couple of games, leaving the club hopeless when he was needed most. Even Núñez was part of Uruguay's failure in Qatar where, under Diego Alonso, the Charrúas were knocked out of the group stage. So bad was the timing in the winter that Klopp signed Gakpo, who has taken the spotlight away from Núñez.
