Liverpool have been one of the benchmark teams at the top level since Jürgen Klopp arrived at Anfield more than six years ago and one player who has established himself as an integral part of the German manager's plans is Andrew Robertson. The 29-year-old Scottish left-back has managed, thanks to the trust placed in him by his manager, to become one of the most highly rated left-backs in the world and his wide range of qualities have not only given him a privileged place in the Reds' project, but have also increased a list of suitors to which Real Madrid have unexpectedly joined.

As the English daily Express has reported in its latest report, Florentino Perez has begun to study the possibility of signing Robertson next summer to consolidate a left-back who has generated more than doubts this season due to the continuous injuries to Ferland Mendy and David Alaba, something that has forced Carlo Ancelotti to bet on Eduardo Camavinga to solve these grievances.

The Frenchman's performance has been exceptional despite it not being his natural position, but Camavinga himself has stated emphatically that he does not expect to spend another season as a substitute on the left flank, a position in which he does not feel comfortable despite the good level he has shown. That is why Florentino is increasingly convinced of striking a blow to the project led by Klopp at Liverpool as snatching such an important player from a direct rival in the fight for the Champions League will be one of the bombshells of the summer market that will open its doors on 1 July.

Real Madrid want Robertson

At the same time, this predisposition of the Merengue boss to close the signing of Robertson would be the final push to get rid of Ferland Mendy, a player who, despite having offered a great performance since he arrived at the club in 2019, has generated many doubts throughout the season and, taking advantage of the fact that the Frenchman is on the agenda of several European giants, Florentino could close here a very smart double operation for Real Madrid. Another option is for Liverpool to agree to sell Robertson, but in return ask for Frenchman Tchouameni, who is wanted by manager Jurgen Klopp.
