Ferland Mendy finally looks set to leave Real Madrid. Although there was much talk of his departure last summer, he had consistently refused to move, claiming he was very happy there and had no intention of leaving. But everything has changed in a matter of a few months, as he does not feel valued enough by Carlo Ancelotti, and he knows he has asked for the arrival of a new left-back.
The Italian coach has demanded Florentino Pérez to bring in another specialist for the position, and the big favourite seems to be Rayo Vallecano's Fran García. At the Santiago Bernabeu they are also open to negotiating the departure of the former Olympique Lyon, Le Havre or Paris Saint-Germain player, as he is not untouchable, and they are confident they can recoup the €50m they paid in the summer of 2019, or a very similar amount.

And the 27-year-old defender had begun contacting various sides who were interested in him in the past, to resume negotiations. Liverpool, for example, were very positive about signing him. Unfortunately for the French international, he is no longer a player of interest to Jürgen Klopp, who is fully satisfied with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas to play in that position.
So Mendy is not a matter of concern at Anfield, and they will not make any attempt to sign him, especially given his high price, and also considering that he does not fit in with the Reds' style of play. And while it is true that defensively he has incredible qualities and provides sensational security, offensively he suffers a lot every time he has the ball, as technically he is not up to the level of the rest of his team-mates.
They have therefore opted to turn down his offer, and will have to look elsewhere to find a buyer. Undoubtedly, one thing that has been a turning point for Mendy is his absence from the World Cup in Qatar. The '23' had hoped to be there, and to be called up by Didier Deschamps, after missing the previous World Cup in Russia. But he ended up being left out, and Lucas Hernández and Theo Hernández were the ones chosen by the 'bleu' coach, leaving out the Madrid star. If he wants to represent his country again, he will have to go to another team where he can be more important.
