Jurgen Klopp has made the signing of Marco Asensio a priority for next summer. It is not the first time that the Liverpool boss has looked at the Spaniard, a player he has been following for several seasons. The paths of the Reds and Real Madrid have crossed three times in the last five years in the Champions League, including the finals in Kiev and Paris, and the quarter-final a couple of seasons ago. Now they will meet again in the last 16 on their return from the World Cup and Asensio will be one of the men to watch.

The Mallorcan player's explosion in the last month and a half has led to a turnaround in his situation at Real Madrid. First Asensio went from being last in line with Hazard to becoming an important player in Ancelotti's rotation. Marco made the most of his minutes and armed the barrel of his left foot to turn the whistles into applause at the Bernabeu.

His performances caught the eye of Luis Enrique, who never forgot about him, and the Spain coach took him to the World Cup. In Spain's opener he earned the starting shirt and it fit him like a glove. He moved to perfection as a false nine and on the flanks, and capped off his impressive display with a goal that set Spain on the way to a win over Costa Rica.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, does not stop receiving calls from big European clubs asking about the situation of Marco Asensio, who is not closing the doors to renew with Real Madrid, although the white club does not reach the figures put on the table from the Premier League.

Asensio has scored a goal at the World Cup

Asensio is hesitating between staying with the club that brought him to the elite or embarking on another adventure as a free agent, but his future is a matter that, for the moment, has been put on hold until the World Cup is over. As well as offers from the Premier League, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern have also contacted Jorge Mendes.
