During the final stretch of the 2022-2023 campaign, Jürgen Klopp tried to modify his classic 4-3-3 formation for a 3-2-2-3 in which Trent Alexander-Arnold played as a midfielder, which raised many speculations about a possible change of position for the 24-year-old England international.
Liverpool's last season was disappointing, as the team missed the target of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League, which was a setback from the last few years in which our club conquered Europe. However, during a run of 11 games in which Klopp used Alexander-Arnold as a midfielder, the team remained unbeaten, although it was not enough to reach the top four in the standings.
Trent Alexander-Arnold's possible change of position generated many rumors in the transfer market that placed Liverpool in the search for a right-back. For this reason, the name of Benjamin Pavard came up as one of the possible additions for the Reds for the next season, as he is also a player who has been a World Cup winner in Russia 2018 and who has also had good seasons with FC Bayern.
However, the German tactician and his coaching staff seem to be more interested in reinforcing the midfield and also in looking for a new left back, especially in view of the possible departure of Andrew Robertson, who has attracted the interest of big teams like Real Madrid.
Sources close to the club insist that Jürgen Klopp has no intention of looking for a new right-back for the team, so Benjamin Pavard would be practically ruled out. This means that Klopp would have already decided whether to change Trent Alexander-Arnold's position for next season and the answer is no. Everything indicates that he will keep him as a right-back, so he has closed the door for an addition in that sector.
