Football is a business, we cannot say otherwise. The millions of euros that move the world also move the sport and the most recent proof of that is the arrival of the last Ballon d'Or winner, Karim Benzema, to the Saudi Arabian league where he will earn around 200 million euros a year, making him one of the highest paid players in the world.
The decision of the former Real Madrid captain seems to open the path started by Cristiano Ronaldo to the Arab league, as a few days ago the 32-year-old French midfielder, N'Golo Kanté, also accepted an offer from Al-Ittihad in which he will earn around 100 million euros per season.
Now, it seems that the powerful Saudi Arabian league is looking for one of the greatest figures and legends in the history of Liverpool, and they would try to convince him to come to the Middle East with a stratospheric salary to continue to increase the interest of the fans in a league that is gaining more and more audience.
We are talking about our eternal captain, Steven Gerrard, who according to the latest reports would have an offer from Al-Ettifaq to become their new coach for the 2023-2024 campaign. Gerrard has reportedly welcomed the offer and asked for time to consider it, as it is said that he also has a chance to join Leicester City.
Steven Gerrard had his first coaching job in the Scottish league, where he led Rangers to the league title. He later moved on to manage Aston Villa in the Premier League, but the results were not as expected and he was sacked in October last year. Now, Gerrard is about to decide which will be his new team.
