It is true that the signing of Ryan Gravenberch on the last day of transfers ended up compounding what had been a summer far from what was expected in terms of signings. However, not even the arrival of the Dutch midfielder that was so much desired by Jürgen Klopp, can hide the fact that there were many things that were not done well by the board and that only meant a waste of time.

Such is the case of the Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia fiasco. The board had shown no signs of any intention of signing the Ecuadorian midfielder and seemed to be focused on signing Romeo Lavia. However, the Reds' board did not want to pay the £50 million Southampton were asking for, considering it too high a fee for a 19-year-old player.

However, when they wanted to sign Moises Caicedo overnight, offering a record transfer fee of £110 million, they showed that they had the money to spend and after Caicedo's refusal they tried to return for Lavia, offering even more than the £50 million, but now the player wanted nothing to do with our club and also joined Chelsea like Caicedo.

This saga made it clear that there was something that was not being done correctly in the board, because our Liverpool is not usually a team that is involved in transfers with very long and fruitless negotiations, but this summer we were and what was expected to be a transfer market full of new additions, only had 4 reinforcements, so there could be changes within the board in the near future.

Who would leave the board?

According to journalist Neil Jones, the club's owners are considering the possibility of letting go of Jorg Schmadtke, who arrived at Anfield this summer as the new sporting director. However, according to Jones, Schmadtke is not seen as a long-term solution for Liverpool so it would not be strange to see him leave the club in the near future.
