Liverpool are on the lookout for a midfielder to bolster their ranks in the face of Jurgen Klopp's injury crisis, and according to some rumours, they have enquired about Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo.

Brighton manager Graham Potter claimed that Liverpool's 50 million euro bid was not even enough to buy his shoes. "You could probably get his boots for that amount. It's not my place to talk about it, it is what it is," he said.

Caicedo is enjoying a great start to the season for Brighton, which sparked interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in the close season, but Potter is confident they will be able to keep hold of him.

The 20-year-old earned his place in the starting line-up and completed 360 minutes during the opening Premier League fixtures for his club, winning three and drawing one, keeping them close behind leaders Arsenal (12 points) on 10 points in fourth place.

Graham Potter's words

"I'm not surprised people are looking at him because he's playing at a fantastic level and as soon as you do your research on him you realise he's a top lad," the manager said.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Tuesday's away defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, Potter had this to say about the Ecuadorian international: "He has all the attributes to play at the highest level, so it's no surprise.

"We know the position he's in, we know the position the club is in, which is we don't want to lose him and we don't think we will. In football, you never know, that's the way it is, but we're pretty calm and confident," the manager acknowledged with belief.
