Undoubtedly, a Ballon d'Or nomination is one of the most important accolades for any footballer in the world and while the list of nominees for the 2021-2022 season has been announced, we think captain Jordan Henderson should be on the list.

Henderson has been heavily criticised on social media, but his involvement and good performances last season, along with the whole team, ensured Liverpool stayed top of the Premier League, competed in the Champions League final and also took home a few trophies.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, Fabinho, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk appear on the 30-man shortlist. The winner of the award, voted for by international journalists, will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on 17 October.

In a change of format, voting is based on a player's achievements during the 2021-22 season, rather than the calendar year. Below is the full list of 2022 Ballon d'Or nominees.

Thibaut Courtois, Rafael Leao, Christopher Nkunku, Mohamed Salah, Joshua Kimmich, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Vinicius Jr, Bernardo Silva, Luis Diaz, Robert Lewandowski, Riyad Mahrez, Casemiro, Hueng-Min Son, Fabinho, Karim Benzema, Mike Maignan, Harry Kane, Darwin Nunez, Phil Foden, Sadio Mane, Sebastien Haller, Luka Modric, Antonio Rudiger, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Dusan Vlahovic, Virgil van Dijk, Joao Cancelo, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland.
